Personality:
Elliot is good by his own opinion of the world, whilst his morals are sketchy to most, his heart is normally in the right place. Generally he spends his time working on local monster problems, helping both the humans and the monsters of Africa when they deserve it. He'll fight to protect those he considers innocent, and protect them from harm. The urge to help those less fortunate than him is pretty strong, and he has a bad habit of mothering those he takes an interest in helping. This nature of wanting to help others often comes into play with Kit's corruption and Ezra's poor monetary state. This behaviour also comes into play with Elliot's little "missions" with Ezra, helping the local spooks that aren't exactly bad but need to be relocated, or helped in a way.
Throughout the years one thing has stayed the same - Elliot is loyal, even to a fault. It's probably one of his defining personality traits; if he takes the time to befriend someone, they have a strong ally that will fight to the death for them. While this is a trait that's gotten him in trouble when he was younger, he's learned to slow his pace and guard himself before befriending people and letting them in. He sees loyalty as a big factor of whether or not someone is worth his time, and because of this, it matters a great deal to him to uphold as well. Loyalty became especially important to Elliot the night that his brother was abandoned by his friend whilst being mugged. The few friends that Elliot has, he would easily lay his life down for because that's what a friend does in his opinion.
Because of Elliot's strong opinion on what a friend is and how they should behave - being always loyal no matter what, he is a very spiteful person. If he feels he's been betrayed, he'll often react rather violently, be it physically or vocally. Once he's found himself betrayed, he's nearly impossible to win back over. This becomes a problem with misunderstandings because he will lash out and stick to his guns until proven otherwise. If his trust is betrayed, it's near impossible to win him back, finding the act deplorable despite how often he lies to begin with. Betrayal is a damning action that inspires his ire from the deepest parts of his heart.
Another personality trait of Elliot's is his dependency on his friends, he's a very cuddly person and with this comes a gentleness. Elliot cares for people and with this finds it very easy to form physical relationships with those he spends his time with. Aside from the relationships that really matter, he is a bit of a flirt when it comes to people in general. Though despite his flirtatious behaviour, he isn't pushy about it, or uncouth. It is actually quite the opposite, he seems to appreciate physical relationships even if they're one night stand kinds, long lasting relationships or friends with benefits, simply liking the feeling of connecting with someone no matter how brief it is.
Elliot steals to mainly donate to children's relief funds in Africa, he also gives a good portion of what he makes to Ezra because he doesn't like his friend being in a worse place than him. Whilst this is very Robin Hood, he doesn't really see it that way or do it to make himself feel better about it. Elliot does what he does because in his eyes money is a downfall to good nature. These thoughts came from the deep seeded jealousy of the closeness that families with no money have; the lack of his parent's presence in his childhood due to their jobs made him hate the idea of simply dedicating one's life to making money. Because of this, he tries to help those that are worse off, and tries to avoid being materialistic, choosing to live in a shitty little flat in JoBurg as opposed to something ridiculously posh that he could certainly afford with his family's income. Quite often, his friends think that he's pretty skint with the way he lives and thieves, only two of them actually know that he's pretty well off.
Elliot was raised a gentleman even if he doesn't show it, because of this he is very respecting of boundaries and privacy. Unlike a bunch of the BCR boys, Elliot has no issue with giving people space, this of course may come across as him simply being cold or guarded, but it's how he was raised. With an introverted brother, he's well aware that some people just don't "people" sometimes, and this doesn't bother him at all. Whilst the living twin likes situations where he can socialise with people, and has no issue talking to strangers on the street (often to rob them), he also can take a hint. There have been many situations where he's decided not to rob someone due to learning a little about them - about what makes them human. Because of this odd honour, Elliot doesn't touch jewelry when stealing because he knows that it often has significance to it, emotion and feeling attached.
He is also a very motivated person despite his occasional depressive and self-destructive moods. Often he is busying himself with something to obsess over, be it the overall obsession with trying to bring his dead brother back or trying to save Kit from his own stupid downfall. When he sets a goal, he often completes it, or gets very close to completing it. This trait makes him both a dangerous enemy to have and a great ally in whatever someone is trying to achieve. Despite his habit of observing situations and seeming unmotivated the entire time, often his brain is working a mile a second trying to figure out how to sort something out, if there are loopholes and how to exploit whatever situation is in front of him to make the turnout worthwhile. Elliot doesn't hesitate to act often, and when he's figured something out in his head, he's an unstoppable force and an immovable wall.
Elliot's mental health is obviously not all that great, with lingering depression, and moments of manic focus on goals, he is a mixture of extremes. This of course, leads to bad habits such as smoking, and escapism. The situational sociopathy is also a problem because it leads him to feeling incomplete and incompatible with people which sends him all over the place emotionally. In a world with monsters and death around the corner, this isn't uncommon amongst magic users but Elliot could easily be classified as one of the dangerous loose canons. Which in itself is true. Elliot can be dangerous to himself and those around him without even realising it.
He's self sabotaging with pretty bad kharma, not that he ever lets any of that stop him. When he feels something failing, such as a personal relationship, he sort of manipulates the situation into ending badly without even noticing. This comes from a mixture of his survivor's guilt and not feeling he deserves what he has and also his spiteful behaviour. Often, he'll see an outcome that he doesn't want and focus so much on trying to prevent it, he'll cause it to happen. He metaphorically shoots himself in the foot all the time. When he gets a thought in his mind, like someone is about to abandon him, he'll push them away until they have no other choice to pull away or start a fight.
However, Elliot isn't all bad, he can be a fun loving playful little shit too. He's got a good sense of humour about him and doesn't hesitate to show it. Too often he doesn't take things as seriously as he probably should, and attempts to have his own fun. While this can get him into a lot of trouble it also makes him an entertaining person to be around. When in a good environment he can be the life of the party, seeming to enjoy attention and games. This has evolved through the years into somewhat of a rush habit - being an adrenaline junkie.
Being an adrenaline junkie is dangerous with how often he find himself lying simply to see other people's reactions or to entertain himself. This is even more dangerous with how cheeky he gets when it comes to his stealing. In Italy it got him into quite a problematic situation with the Italian Mafia, both drawing their ire and interest in his bad habit of having sticky fingers. Quite often, he does things simply for reactions. An example of doing something simply for a reaction would be his inability to be around Max without robbing him blind despite knowing that he no longer keeps anything worthwhile on him. It's all fun and games to him.
Elliot believes in spiritual cleanliness, and by this, it means he feeds off ghosts quite often. This has made him somewhat bitter towards religion, and life and death in general. He's pretty numb to all things that relate to respecting the dead and this obviously comes from his necromantic tenancies and he often shares just how much of a bastard he is when it comes to the sanctity of human death. The only exception seems to be his brother, and later on Marco. With people he knows, his heart seems to stay open even after death. So is the life of a soul eater, and death exploiter.
More personality notes
Personal Moral Codes: Elliot is a Chaotic Neutral that borders on Chaotic Good. He eats spirits/ghosts to survive and manipulates the dead, he also pickpockets people - he isn't anywhere near being a saint. But he does do his fair share of good things too - and won't kill unless he has too or feels like he's been severely spited by the person (like Grant's murderer). He helps kids and donates to charities and also helps the locals with monster problems. He isn't bad, but he isn't quite good either. Basically, he does what he thinks is right. He sits comfortably in the morally grey area; however, he does believe that people he deems innocent should be helped, and that includes monsters he deems innocent.
Insecurities/Personal Demons: Elliot's main demon aside from his horrific survivor's guilt from being the living twin, is the fact that he's aware that Grant was the favourite twin. People always liked Grant more than him, it's one of the reasons Elliot acts out as much as he does, not that he'll ever admit it. His mother personally blames him and abuses him whenever he visits her, instilling the fact that it's his fault and it should have been him in him. Elliot is also stopping at nothing to try to bring Grant back to try to fix it even though it's not his fault.
Another big demon he struggles with is the fact that he could easily be classified as one of the monsters that they are trained to destroy. Often he wonders if he's more witch or more monster. Feeding off death and souls seems no better than what some of the monsters he kills does. Often times he wonders if he was born wrong.
Along the vein of being classified as one of the monsters is his magic. He is a Necromantic witch, which is generally a dark feeling magic to begin with, but his is fucking disgusting. He outright refuses to channel it into other people or use it on his friends unless he has to because of how it feels. Each Plane and each witch has a different signature flavour of magic, generally the same planes are cut from the same cloth but it's all unique to the witch. And Elliot knows his is disgusting, and he can't help but feel it signifies who he is inside.
Some quotes about Elliot's magic (what it feels like varies on how much he's pouring into someone or what exactly he's doing with it):
❝ On full blast, it's like being dragged under a slowly churning vat of viscous slop. It comes with the territory, he supposes, to bring things back from their slowly shifting phase back into the ever-talked about primordial ooze. ❞
❝ A switch somewhere had to be flipped because in an instant there is a litchenberg of necromantic magic spilling from his hand. There's no real intelligence to the pattern of magic that spreads out from his hand except that it is indeed spreading like an infection or a plague, wrapping around Tristan. It's not warm like Tristan's, it's not exactly comforting but it doesn't lack in strength. No, it feels like a cold smoke that wraps around Tristan's senses, almost stealing the oxygen from him and leaving the stirring of nausea and lightheadedness in its wake. ❞
Another "demon" is that he's possessed by the spirit I mentioned before - Nyaminyami. He's causing Elliot all kinds of havoc and inner turmoil. He's giving Elliot an intense phobia of water - giving him nightmares of drowning often and turning water to blood and black inky sludge whenever he gets near it. He causes him to wake up in strange places covered in blood and to say strange things that he doesn't remember. Part of him feels like he deserves all the suffering it causes him.
He's an alcoholic to try to deal with all his problems, it doesn't really help, but it's also a problem.
Elliot uses drugs to try to escape his shitty shitty reality too - the soft kind and the hard king, anything he can get his hands on.
He's undiagnosed unmedicated manic depressive and fights with it a lot.
He's an adrenaline junkie and puts himself in danger because of this a lot.
The Johannesburg Collective has turned him into a weapon, and while he doesn't really acknowledge it, he's aware of it subconsciously. And he knows weapons aren't meant to find peace; they're meant to find death and destruction.
Elliot has also tried to kill himself when he was younger after his brother's death, and also a few times that he doesn't quite remember whilst fighting with Nyaminyami for control.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses:
Powers & Weaknesses
Elliot pickpockets in a manner that involves mental manipulation but by no supernatural means. Don't let him into your personal space. Or things may go missing pretty quickly.
Elliot is still a human, just a bit more durable because he can heal from eating souls and death, so normal trauma can kill him if he's not juiced up or if it's serious enough trauma - ripping out his heart, decapitation, etc etc.
He doesn't have any portation paper to try to teleport with, but he probably wouldn't try because I imagine the borders of the setting would wig him out too much to try. He's seen witches get splinched simply from warding in places in Africa. He ain't about it.

What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: ALL OF THEM. I don't really know. I love being spooked and all the spooky stuff. I live for it. I love when stuff kinda ties together. I also love when it's like insidious like in Silent Hill and stuff... Iunno, this is a terrible answer, sorry.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: I will rip my eyeballs off and throw them at you if you don't tag your stuff that could set off my Trypophobia. But other than that, nope.
Additional Information: He's a soul eater so he's gonna have to be nibbling on ghosts and death energy off dead things.
